  1. Among the 8 captured fako chiefs was Chief Mbanda Njie. He was assassinated over the weekend and explanations are still being sought as to why he was murdered.
  2. Ndop prison was attacked by assailants over the weekend. Result: 163 prisoners freed and the entire building set on fire.
  3. Cardinal Tumi's ANGLOPHONE CONFERENCE slated for August this year sparks controversies as even MINCOM sees it as uncalled for. Others question the credibility of such an action by the emeritus clergyman. 
  4. MINCOM says the prerequisites outlined by the Cardinal concerning a cease fire and the liberation of all prisoners cannot be granted.

Friedrich Glasl's model of conflict escalation assists in the analysis of conflicts. Appropriate reactions can be derived from this analysis. The model has nine stages – in contrast to the earlier model of Kurt R. Spillmann, which describes five distinct stages of escalation.
