Summary

  1. About five died in Buea yesterday after gunshots were heard in the Bakweri Town neighbourhood. The truth behind these deaths is yet to be fully unraveled. 
  2. Cardinal Tumi's planned AAC III coming after AAC I on April 2-3 1993 in Buea and AAC II on April 29th -  May 1994 in Bamenda, is the talk of the day in all TV debates and almost all papers have it on their front page. The bone of contention is the precondition the Cardinal, Synod Clerk of PCC and the Imams of Buea and Bamenda gave for the conference to hold. That is the release of all detainees and a total withdrawal of troops from the anglophone regions. Cameroon Tribune of today rubbishes these requests.
  3. Mayor EKEMA swears such a conference would not hold in his municipality even if the Head of State were to authorize it. He is today Tuesday leading a "Peace March" to denounce the capture and killing of chiefs and to call for the release of all those still in detention.
  4. SDF presidential candidate, Joshua OSIH is accused of possessing a dual nationality. There are debates as to whether he is a Swiss citizen given his mother was from there. If this allegation is found to be true, his candidature will be simply discarded. He has slammed detractors and described the debates as unfounded.

Friedrich Glasl's model of conflict escalation assists in the analysis of conflicts. Appropriate reactions can be derived from this analysis. The model has nine stages – in contrast to the earlier model of Kurt R. Spillmann, which describes five distinct stages of escalation.
