Image
Easter Sunday - The Resurrection of the Lord -At the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night of Easter Reading 1 Gn 1:1—2:2 OR 1:1, 26-31A In the beginning, when God created the heavens and the earth, the earth was a formless wasteland, and darkness covered the abyss, while a mighty wind swept over the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw how good the light was. God then separated the light from the darkness. God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." Thus evening came, and morning followed—the first day. Then God said, "Let there be a dome in the middle of the waters, to separate one body of water from the other." And so it happened: God made the dome, and it separated the water above the dome from the water below it. God called the dome "the sky." Evening came, and morning followed—the second day. Then God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered ...

Good Friday of the Lord's Passion  Reading 1: Is 52:13—53:12 See, my servant shall prosper, he shall be raised high and greatly exalted. Even as many were amazed at himC so marred was his look beyond human semblance and his appearance beyond that of the sons of manC so shall he startle many nations, because of him kings shall stand speechless; for those who have not been told shall see, those who have not heard shall ponder it. Who would believe what we have heard? To whom has the arm of the LORD been revealed? He grew up like a sapling before him, like a shoot from the parched earth; there was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, nor appearance that would attract us to him. He was spurned and avoided by people, a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity, one of those from whom people hide their faces, spurned, and we held him in no esteem. Yet it was our infirmities that he bore, our sufferings that he endured, while we thought of him as ...

Newspaper Headlines Summary Please take off 10s to answer our 2 questions on the right side bar! Cameroon Tribune writes: “Peace and security in the NW and SW; a concern for all.” This is to report on the visit of MINAT, Atanga Nji who held peace talks with fons and chiefs as well as administrative authorities of the SW region who pledged to do all in their power to work for the restoration of peace and security. SDF has filed a petition to the Constitutional Council demanding the cancellation of the senatorial election proceedings in the SW region due to some irregularities they claim to have noticed, ranging from ghost voters to the corruption of electors. The CDU of Adamou Ndam Njoya on its part demands the cancellation of the same elections in the West region claiming electors were influenced with cash gifts and they also signal some irregularities. Those are the only two post-electoral petitions that have been registered at the Council. Agbor Balla refutes social media ...

Holy Thursday – Evening Mass of the Lord's Supper Reading 1: Ex 12:1-8, 11-14 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, "This month shall stand at the head of your calendar; you shall reckon it the first month of the year. Tell the whole community of Israel: On the tenth of this month every one of your families must procure for itself a lamb, one apiece for each household. If a family is too small for a whole lamb, it shall join the nearest household in procuring one and shall share in the lamb in proportion to the number of persons who partake of it. The lamb must be a year-old male and without blemish. You may take it from either the sheep or the goats. You shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month, and then, with the whole assembly of Israel present, it shall be slaughtered during the evening twilight. They shall take some of its blood and apply it to the two doorposts and the lintel of every house in which they partake of th...

The US had done so long ago. Jeune Afrique of this week looks into “Why Africans are so proud of the movie BLACK PANTHER”. Probably because of the ascents and the culture that is manifested in it, the choice of names, vestments, etc. Minister Atanga Nji storms SW on a “Peace Crusade”. He arrived Buea yesterday on a surprise note, with authorities not having been informed. He is holding high level security talks with authorities of the region. He will also go to Kumba to evaluate the situation at the MEME SDO’s residence where a gunman was brought down 2 days ago.  MINAT has also given those civilians who possess and use fire arms two weeks to hand them over. Gospel: Wednesday of the Holy Week - Judas betrays Jesus and starts looking for a means to hand him over!

Image
Gospel: Mtt 26:14-25 One of the Twelve, who was called Judas Iscariot, went to the chief priests and said, "What are you willing to give me if I hand him over to you?" They paid him thirty pieces of silver, and from that time on he looked for an opportunity to hand him over. On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, the disciples approached Jesus and said, "Where do you want us to prepare for you to eat the Passover?" He said, "Go into the city to a certain man and tell him, 'The teacher says, "My appointed time draws near; in your house I shall celebrate the Passover with my disciples."'" The disciples then did as Jesus had ordered, and prepared the Passover. When it was evening, he reclined at table with the Twelve. And while they were eating, he said, "Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me." Deeply distressed at this, they began to say to him one after another, "Sure...

Minister ATANGA NJI storms the South West!

Image
Minister of Territorial Administration visits the South West Region After having braved all odds by visiting the NW region, going as far as Batibo, epicentre of kidnappings and burnings, many wondered if Minister Atanga Nji could do this just because he hails from the NW region. Many pondered if a similar exercise would be carried out in the SW. Some even said he wouldn't even dare. Today, he is in the SW region on a surprise visit. No authority was informed of the visit. He arrived Buea this morning and is expected to hold high level security talks with authorities. He arrives the region just a day after one of several gunmen who attacked the Meme SDO's residence was brought down. This is the fifth attempt on the SDO's residence. The minister would visit this residence. What we can't tell as of  now is how far he will go. Will he only hold talks with chiefs and authorities in Buea and Kumba, will he meet disgruntled bike riders in Kumba, will he go as far as Leb...

Full Press Review: Tuesday 27/03/2018 - CPDM poised to win 64 of the 70 elected senatorial seats!

Image
Newspaper Headlines Summary With the full provisional results from all polling stations received, only 2.28% of the councilors didn’t vote. Thus the actual participation rate was roughly 97%. Unimaginable efforts were made to get voters to difficult polling stations and indeed ALL polling stations were effective. The CPDM can’t understand how they lost in the NW. Some say the candidates led by MUNDI Regina were unpopular, others claim the UDP helped the SDF. However, having won in three divisions, the CPDM managed to snatch one of the seven elected seats and as such SDF will have six seats while the CPDM will take one to add to the 63 others that it has picked in the 9 other regions making a total of 64 seats. The head of state will then appoint 30 others not more than 10 days from when the Constitutional Council publishes the final results. Will the entire senate be CPDM?? The President will probably appoint some UNDP or FNSC members to bring in some “opposition”. Let’s see how ...
